Great Race Day 7 - Norman, Oklahoma to Lewisville, Texas

This is the last day of the Honest Charley Speed Shop Deuce Week East. We had a Pitstop in soomwheresville, Oklahoma (actually Pauls Valley). We had lunch in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Saw a few of our friends from the Michelin plant there. I remember when it was a BFGoodrich plant.
We cruised in to Norman, Ok and got some rain just as we slipped into town. Honest Mike and Honest Dolas got another ace! Mike walked into the trailer and said “these aint too hard!”. It was sad that Mike and Dolas were to go home but Honest Louis drove out from Chattavegas to pick them up. We had a great time with those Honest boys!
We had a great surprise when Theresa and I came into Lewisville. Sandy McRae, GR founder Tom McRae’s widow was there to see us all come in. Sister McRae was there too. Andrew was smilin ear to ear. He loves Sister. (She is Tom’s sister OBVIOUSLY). Tom McRae died in a motorcycle accident a couple of years ago. Sandy and Sister came into Coker Central to help console us all with bad scores. We had a pretty good number of folks that needed therapy time!

I met some great future new Great Racers in our trailer. We had a few pictures of these kids.
After their Parc Ferme (french for we gotta park the dang cars in town and be still til the parking police say we can go to the hotel) we scooted down the 121 to Grapevine, Texas (near the DFW airport) for a day off. I never get a day off!
On the day off, Cameron, Jerry, Greg and Andrew worked on our two remaining cars #88 …the 37 Shafer 8 and #98 … The 28 Ford Speedster. Oil needed to be changed, carbs adjusted n stuff.
I helped Theresa do laundry. You better not tell anyone either dang it! I will get really mad! Think of it… A manly man folding underwear and bundling socks! I will never admit it so dont ask me about it! We finished the laundry and goofed the rest of the day (saturday).
