Day 2 saw us leave Spartanburg to beautiful skies, clean cars and a will to make up for our rally errors of the first day.
You’ve probably heard that lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice. Well the wrong turn gremlin does! We were supposed to turn right but just kept on going straight like for 15 minutes. When we figured out we were wrong, we busted it back to the turn to try to catch up. I was passing cars until a cop flipped his lites at me…then we had another checkpoint. 2 minute leg. Dang… Gremlins.
To our surprise, we rallyed for a couple of hours but then had the opportunity to transit off the clock for a long while just cruising on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was great having the ability to see the scenery instead of the dial of the speedometer. It was fun watching the altimeter zip up to 6000 feet. What a beautiful place we experienced!

We dropped back down the mountains into Maggie Valley for lunch at the Wheels thru Time Museum owned by Dale Walksler. What a neat guy. I thought I had energy! Dale’s museum is the “museum that runs” and is one of the most unique experiences you have ever seen.
Off to Chattanooga after a great lunch provided by Dale n Crew.
There was a horrific wreck on the Interstate going into Chattanooga. We had to be set up for a new restart time by GR staff. We then rallyed in the best (most confusing) rally maze ever.

Enterprise South is Chattanooga’s new Industrial park that was once the Volunteer Army Ammuntion Property. (Ammo production n dump). It was in production from WW II until Vietnam. Theresa and I saw about 4 or 5 deer while we were rallying.
It started raining pretty hard during the last hour of our rally time. I was most worried about the evening stop we had planned for all the local folks and racers at the home of Coker Tire.

The rains came hard but we were received by a huge enthusiastic crowd at our headquarters. My daughter Casey was in charge of the event. She did awesome! My staff worked their butts off to make the Chattanooga Overnight stop a success. Everyone worked so hard. We keep hearing from the racers how wonderful the food and their experience was. Coker and Honest folks…you’re da best!
We had a fun day but disappointing score. Best part of the day was being able to sleep in my own bed and being able to see Banjo, the wonder dog.
