I remember as a kid thinking Christmas will never get here. OK, now I am an adult and I still have those thoughts but about stuff I anticipate and look forward to doing, like Great Race. Come on Start… Let’s do this thing!

The day before start day was used for last minute repairs, checking, re-checking, and triple checking our speedometer. The “measured mile” was pretty long so we could really dial in our speedo and did just that.

Cameron and Greg went with most all the race cars and took advantage of driving around Lowe’s MotorSpeedway. Cameron took a short video with our new little handy dandy camera phone. Boy, we got high tech!

Dolus and Mike checked their speedo too. It was a little off!?! They look cool though tooling down the road in Double Exposure. It is a cool car!

The City of Concord NC hosted us for a really cool reception. Elvis showed up! I knew he lived in North Carolina. He looked a lot like Ricky Bobby though! I saw some great friends at the reception. Dennis and Janis Carpenter were there to support the group. Dennis and his son Dan own Carpenter Industries. They make the best Ford car and truck parts, Cushman scooter parts and Ford tractor parts. Also our friends, Tom and Ann Reece were there. Tom was an executive with Firestone and Continental General. They now live in Charlotte.

We had a mandatory meeting immediately after the reception. Great Race hooked up with Make A Wish this year and we raised over twenty thousand bucks! It was really cool to see the race teams all come together to contribute to this great group. They do such wonderful great work!

Curtis Graf did finally make it in Friday night about 9 PM after working three or four straight days and then driving 20 hours straight from Dallas. His 32 highboy really looks great. Bruce Gezon was almost giddy with relief. You’ll see some pics of it as we move across the USA.

Andrew and Jerry took the trailer down to the venue in downtown Concord late friday nite so we are about ready to go!

From the road,
